Founder Chef Clarence Kelly—a dedicated public servant born and raised in Texas—has been cooking since childhood, learning the timeless craft of Southern cooking directly from his late grandmother, Emma. With five successful years operating Emma Lynn’s Chicken and Waffles in Byron Center, Michigan, Chef Kelly has established himself as a trusted name in authentic Southern cuisine.
Today, Chef Kelly carries his grandmother Emma’s powerful family legacy forward with his own unique twist, serving up a massive menu of hearty Southern comfort dishes. Our restaurant is home to officially crowned ‘Best Chicken in Michigan,’ crispy homemade waffles, and an incredible variety of scratch-made entrees and desserts.
